Facilities are licensed by the Texas Health and Human Services Commission and must meet guidelines established by the Health Care Finance Administration (HCFA) of the Federal Government. These guidelines are the Interpretive Guidelines for Intermediate Care Facilities for the Intellectually Disabled. Each facility is surveyed by the Texas Health and Human Services Commission on at least an annual basis to ensure compliance with these standards.
